As you may have been aware the flooding crisis in Thailand late last year had a significant impact on the supply of hard disk drives to the world market. Many computer manufacturers around the globe were struggling with shortages and were being hit with drastic price increases.

During this time Stealth procured significant inventory of our most popular capacities to protect our customers and to ensure no interruption of production and no increase in prices to any of our base PC products.

As of May 2012 the worldwide shortage of hard drives has eased and prices have stabilized as production capacity has slowly returned to normal levels.

Microsoft has kicked off what it calls a “two-year countdown” to the death of Windows XP and the Office 2003 productivity suite.

Separately, Microsoft announced that Windows Vista, the problem-plagued operating system that never really took hold among customers, exited mainstream support on April 10. In a product’s extended support phase, Microsoft provides security patches to registered users but offers other fixes, including reliability and stability updates, only to organizations that have support contracts with the company.

Windows XP and Office 2003 will no longer be supported as of April 8, 2014, a company spokeswoman said in a recent blog post. On that date, Microsoft will stop shipping security updates for both products.

At that point, XP will have become Microsoft’s longest-lived operating system. The company will have maintained the software for 12 years and five months — or about two and a half years longer than it usually supports an OS. It supported the previous record-holder, Windows NT, for 11 years and five months.

Both XP and Office 2003 have been hugely successful. XP went on sale in October 2001, and Office 2003 launched in October 2003. “Windows XP and Office 2003 were great software releases, but the technology environment has shifted,” said Stella Chernyak, a Microsoft marketing director.

Some customers will continue to run XP even after it is retired. About 16 per cent of organizations “say they will have more than five per cent of their users still on XP even after support ends,” according to Gartner analyst Michael Silver, citing a survey his firm conducted in October 2011.

Not surprisingly, Microsoft wants users to upgrade to Windows 7 now. “If your organization has not started the migration to a modern PC, you are late,” the company said, referring to data that indicates that enterprise OS migrations take 18 to 32 months.

We will manufacture our various StealthVU LCD monitor products here which include; Panel Mounts, Rack Mounts, Open Frame, Marine, High Brightness and custom OEM displays and monitors that are application specific.

It’s hard to imagine but this giant chunk of Metal pictured above is 4 kilobytes of memory.

That is 4KB of antique IBM memory to be exact, Editor-in-Chief of CNET Reviews Lindsey Turrentine discovered the rugged computer antique in her grandfather’s barn. Turrentine points out the wonderful irony that the image itself is 692KB, meaning you would need to find 172 more of these memory modules and a tractor trailer to transport the pic around.

The ninth annual IMPACT Awards recognize excellence across the large and diverse community of Microsoft’s Canadian technology partners. The winners were announced at an award ceremony in Toronto on November 30, 2011.

“Our annual IMPACT Awards celebrate the great work done in the Partner Community to help customers respond to their business challenges through the benefits of technology,” said Eric Gales, President of Microsoft Canada Inc. “Technology partners like Stealth.com are always finding new and exciting ways to develop and deliver innovative technology solutions, making them true leaders in their respective fields.”

Stealth.com was chosen as the winner in OEM Hardware System Building Partner of the Year for providing their customer with a rugged PC solution that could operate reliably in the agricultural field. The Stealth model: LPC-460FM is a fanless PC that was successfully deployed in the harsh environments of farm machinery due to its durability, diminutive size and mobile functionality.

The application involved processing real time data obtained from non-contact sensors mounted on tractors and trucks that would measure the absorption and reflectance of light in plants and provide adjustments accordingly. The customer accomplished significant ROI by benefiting in higher crop yields, savings in fertilizer costs and a reduction in the environmental impact.

The growing popularity of Google’s Chrome internet browser has allowed it to overtake Firefox for the first time globally in November for usage and it continues to narrow the gap to market leader Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, web analytics firm StatCounter said on Thursday.

In November 2011 Chrome saw its market share roughly doubling from a year ago to 25.7 per cent, while Internet Explorer’s share dropped to 40.6 per cent from 48.2 per cent. The market share of Firefox – which is popular in Europe – slipped globally to 25.2 per cent from 31.2 per cent.

StatCounter statistics are based on aggregate data from more than 3 million websites with a sample of more than 15 billion page views per month.

With Thanksgiving upon us it is an appropriate time for us to reflect and be thankful. Each year at this time it is a gratifying reminder that another year has passed and another anniversary is bestowed upon us.

Stealth is incredibly proud to celebrate 21 years in business with what is turning out to be a record year. We wish to acknowledge and thank everyone who has made a contribution to our success possible including our employees, customers, partners and suppliers.

The recent flooding crisis in Thailand has had a significant impact on production capacity of hard disk drives to the world market. Many of our customers have expressed concerns with regards to this situation and how it may affect our business relationship.

We are not experiencing any interruption in the delivery of Stealth’s standard computer products. Stealth has procured significant product inventory of the most common hard drive capacities used in all of our products. We also maintain an inventory of upgradable hard drive capacities and they can be quoted on a case-by-case basis.

Unfortunately, it is unknown as to when the hard drive industry will recover to its full production capacity. Industry experts have commented that shortages could extend into the first calendar quarter of 2012. Stealth is working closely with our suppliers to determine potential disruptions to our supply chain and will keep you apprised of new information.
