Stealth.com continues to offer Windows XP Pro

June 12th, 2008 by StealthWarrior

Many of the tier one PC manufacturers and retail outlets will be discontinuing their offerings of Windows XP at the end of this month, June 30th 2008.

Under Microsoft’s Windows life-cycle policy, Systems Builder like Stealth Computer will be able to offer WIN XP license until Jan 31, 2009

Windows XP Home and Starter editions will still be preloaded on ultra-low-cost PCs through June 30, 2010, or one year after the launch of the next version of Windows - whichever comes first, the company said.

In the meantime there’s been much speculation about Windows 7 as Vista sales and upgrades continue to be lower than anticipated.

It is a 2.5 inch drive integrated into a cast metal 3.5” enterprise class mounting frame which acts to dissipate heat. The marketing folks at WD are calling it “the world’s fastest SATA hard drive”. They claim the 300GB drive to be 35% faster then its previous fastest model.

Specs: 10,000 RPM, SATA 3 GB/s interface and a 16 MB cache

We have not had the opportunity to get our hands on one of these babies yet however they are expected to ship later this month.

Stealth Computer Releases a Family of Sunlight Readable LCD Monitors

May 5th, 2008 by StealthWarrior

Our Stealth High Brightness LCD Monitor products have continued to be one of our most popular peripheral products. Over the past few years we are finding that people want to deploy an LCD into high ambient light environments. Example applications we have been involved with include; public space kiosks, private yachts, oil rigs, digital signs and outdoor advertising.

Stealth high brightness LCD monitors are available with up to 1600 Nits of brightness depending on the model and size of LCD. The high brightness is achieved through CCFL backlight and inverter control. There are some manufactures that promise extraordinary brightness levels through film enhancement. It has been our experience that film can make a significant difference however they fall short when direct sunlight is involved.

There’s a fly in the ointment as Microsofts XP Service Pack 3 is delayed

April 30th, 2008 by StealthWarrior

XP SP3 delayedYesterday Microsoft announced it is delaying the release of Windows XP Service Pack 3 due to a newly uncovered glitch.

Microsoft said there is a “compatibility issue” between the XP service pack and Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System, a retail chain management program for small and midsize businesses.

Microsoft has finalized the code for release for SP3 last week and had planned to make it available starting April 29th..

“In order to make sure customers have the best possible experience, we have decided to delay releasing Windows XP SP3 to Windows Update and Microsoft Download Center,” the company said in a statement.

The delay is expected to be a very short one; however it does add to the list of delays experienced as far back as 2006.

Microsoft to release SP3 for Windows XP

April 16th, 2008 by StealthWarrior

XP3

Rumors have it that Microsoft is releasing Windows XP Service Pack 3 next week. OEMs (that’s us) and business customers will get the service pack first followed by the rest of XP users through Microsoft’s online Windows Update service about a week later.

Microsoft is in a bit of a quandary with XP. The more it improves the OS, the less reason users have to upgrade to Vista, which has failed to catch on with computer users since its debut last year.

Stealth Computer Quietly Expands Operations

April 14th, 2008 by StealthWarrior

In 1999 we purchased the existing Stealth Headquarters, a 15,000 sq ft facility providing us with plenty of room to expand at the time. We have now purchased the adjoining building and have begun to prepare this facility for further expansion. The new building gives us an additional 11,000 sq ft of production space for a total of 27,000 sq ft.

Stealth continues to grow from a basic root philosophy and evolving quietly as the leader in the specialized computers and peripherals market.

Pictured below is a panoramic shot of the new space in transition.

Bill Gates says Windows 7 is coming next year but hes just jive talkin

April 11th, 2008 by StealthWarrior

windows_7.jpg

Billy Gates may have been doing some jive talkin when he mention that we’d see a new version of the OS “Sometime in the next year or so,” (“Or So” being the operative words)

Well don’t get yourself in a tizzy over crazy Bills developer speak. “As is standard with the release of a new product, we will be releasing early builds of Windows 7 prior to its general availability as a means to gain tester feedback,” a spokesman for Microsoft said, downplaying Gates statement.

Microsoft wants everyone to chill with the toned-down news that it’s got no plans to introduce Windows 7 any earlier than January 2010 (three years from the Vista launch). Lets hope the XP cutoff date is pushed out a bit.

Intel shows off worlds smallest PC motherboard at IDF

April 3rd, 2008 by StealthWarrior

And we thought our Stealth LittlePC products were small….

At the recent Intel Developers Forum (IDF) in Shanghai, Intel showed what it considers to be the smallest motherboard on the planet. This motherboard, or mainboard PC circuit board, will go into the company’s next-generation “Moorestown” mobile Internet device (MID) platform due in the 2009-2010 time frame.Intel Moorestown

“Our engineers have been very hard at work on Moorestown,” Anand Chandrasekher, senior vice president and general manager of Intel’s Ultra Mobility Group, said during an IDF keynote speech Wednesday. “The platform design teams have been hard at work in figuring out what is the smallest form factor that they can actually fit a complete PC motherboard into so they can deliver a great mobile Internet experience.”

“What I’m holding in my hand is what is possibly the world’s smallest PC motherboard,” Chandrasekher said. The Moorestown motherboard houses the processor, chipset (including graphics), and memory, along with silicon for 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS, he said. “This is the heart of the new machine.”

Moorestown will be Intel’s impressive system-on-a-chip, combining the processor, graphics, and memory controller on a single die. It will likely be the major launching pad for Intel into the mobile phone market.

Intel announced its ‘Moorestown’ system-on-a-chip platform for UMPCs and internet tablets back in April this year, but it kept the details quiet. Now they’ve leaked out.
