How Does Downgrade Rights for Windows 7 Work?

Introduction
Windows 7 is the latest offering in desktop operating systems from Microsoft.  In some cases end-users still need to operate with previous versions of O/S such as Windows XP or Vista. As part of Microsoft’s End User License Agreement (EULA), Stealth Computer is an authorized Microsoft OEM and is permitted to offer its customers the ability to run previous versions of XP or Vista Operating Systems.

How does this work? – Downgrade to Microsoft XP as an example.
Windows XP is no longer available for purchase from Microsoft. What you are purchasing is a Windows 7 Pro license with product key, installation media along with a service that allows us (with your permission) to exercise your downgrade rights. You will need to purchase a separate license for each computer ordered.

When choosing the downgrade option Stealth will preinstall Windows XP Pro, 32-Bit, SP3 on your new machine. You will not be provided with Windows XP Pro media.

The recent events in Japan on March 11, 2011 have been a shock to people around the globe, and Stealth.com Inc. would like to express its sorrow to those personally affected. We ask that you continue to keep those impacted by this disaster in your thoughts as they struggle to rebuild their lives.

Based on the uncertainty in the news media and general marketplace many of our customers have expressed concerns with regards to this situation.

At this time we are not experiencing any supply chain interruption that would impact our ability to deliver Stealth products or services. Moving forward we remain very optimistic that the impact on our customer deliveries will be minimal or non-existent. Stealth has no direct manufacturing facility in Japan.

As conditions in Japan continue to change the full impact of the disaster cannot yet be determined on the global electronics market. Stealth is working closely with our suppliers to determine potential disruptions to our supply chain and will keep you apprised of new information.

Stealth has been producing our Lunch Box style StealthBox portable computers for almost 20 years now. They have been ideal for all kinds of industry applications including PLC programmers, Portable Servers, Data Acquisition, Portable Video Editing, Instrumentation and any other application that requires expansion card slots along with desktop  processing power.

The photo above is a 1996 vintage StealthBox that came in for repairs recently from a steel processing plant. You can see the computer is a little banged up  however it was still working some 15 years later and the customer only wanted a new keyboard and tune up. In today’s world it is not uncommon for people turn over their technology investments (consumer electronics) in mere months not years. Twenty years!

I wish it was as easy as saying “we had great vision”. Flash Forward – 20 years and well over a 100,000 systems later, who would have predicted we would become industry leaders recognized worldwide for our products and services.

Way back in 1990 we were working on automation and control systems. With Microsoft Windows 3.0 recently released there was a growing demand for GUI based applications outside the typical office environment. Demand for computers and peripherals moved beyond the clean office to other not so friendly environments.

The first computers to venture out to the shop floor were the office grade PCs. It quickly became evident that these systems were inadequate for the harshness of the shop floor where dirt, moisture, heat, vibration and electrical noise killed them. Customers demanded something that would survive. We responded with a solution not realizing until later that we found our niche.

Two decades later we continue to enjoy significant organic growth and have been humbled with numerous product awards, industry recognition and more importantly, customer loyalty. Major achievements over the years have included purchasing new facilities to house the continuous growth, adoption to the international ISO 9001 standard and non-stop product development.

A lot has changed in the computer business over the past twenty years. We live in a very exciting time and constantly need to reinvent ourselves to stay current with the demands for new technology. While times have changed, our commitment to our customers and their success has not.
